Jane (Eunjung) Hong is a Korean pianist and educator whose artistry blends technical finesse, expressive depth, and a deep commitment to musical storytelling. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) candidate in Piano Performance at Boston University, where she studies under Professor Boaz Sharon and serves as a Teaching Assistant in Piano, contributing to the training of undergraduate musicians through applied instruction and pedagogical support.
Born in South Korea and educated internationally, Hong holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance with Distinction from the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music (CCM), where she received the Graduate Excellence Award (Full Scholarship). She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, studying with renowned pianist Barry Snyder and receiving the Howard Hanson Scholarship Award. Her diverse educational background forms the foundation of both her artistic voice and pedagogical approach.
As a performer, Hong has appeared in major venues throughout Korea and the United States, including the Seoul Arts Center, Youngsan Arts Hall, Cheonan Arts Center, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and Eastman’s Kilbourn Hall. Her work spans solo repertoire, chamber music, and collaborative projects with instrumentalists, vocalists, and contemporary ensembles. Her communicative playing reflects her belief that performance is a space for shared expression, curiosity, and connection.
A dedicated and widely respected educator, Hong is the Founder and Executive Music Director of Boston Piano Studio (Korea), a highly successful pre-college and conservatory-preparatory program known for individualized, long-term musical training. She has guided students to admission at many of Korea’s most competitive arts institutions, including the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts, Yewon Arts Middle School, Sunhwa Arts Middle School, and leading high school and university programs.
In the United States, Hong maintains an active private piano studio, where she teaches students of various ages and levels - from young beginners to advanced pre-college musicians - providing tailored instruction in technique, musicianship, interpretation, and artistic development. She also serves as a Piano and Music Theory Faculty member at Vivace School of Music, teaching both private lessons and group classes while preparing students for recitals, evaluations, and long-term artistic goals.
Alongside her work in the U.S., Hong is a faculty member at Sunhwa Arts Middle School and Goyang High School of Arts in Korea, offering weekly applied instruction, advanced repertoire coaching, and service as a jury member for competitive semester evaluations. Her cross-cultural teaching experience enables her to guide students effectively through multiple educational systems and audition pathways.
Hong is also a sought-after adjudicator, serving as a judge for competitions such as the Dong-A Music Concours, International Youth Music Competition, Seoul Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Competition, and SC Bright Music Competition, where she is recognized for her detailed, insightful, and pedagogically supportive evaluations.
Her artistic development includes masterclasses with internationally respected pianists such as Alexander Kobrin, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Yong Hi Moon, James Tocco, and Tao Lin, as well as chamber coaching with Sylvie Beaudette, Elinor Freer, and Sandra Rivers. These influences deepen her teaching and performance philosophy, which centers on attentive listening, stylistic understanding, and the cultivation of an authentic artistic voice.
In addition to her performing and teaching career, Hong is engaged in community outreach, church music leadership, and youth arts programming, participating in concerts and initiatives that reflect her belief in music’s power to inspire, uplift, and connect communities.
